'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Directors Leave Spotland

Changes have started for Rochdale on the pitch, with the carrousel of players starting last week. They`ve also started off the pitch, with 2 directors stepping down.

Brian Kilpatrick and Martyn MacLeod have both served the Dale board for a number of years and have officially resigned their posts. However, the wording of the official statement released by chairman Chris Dunphy suggests they may have been 'encouraged` to do so.

"On behalf of Rochdale Football Club, I would like to thank Brian and Martyn for their hard work and endeavour over the years. It has been a pleasure working with them and I wish them all the very best for the future."

'As previously mentioned, there will be a number of changes in the boardroom to help us face the challenges of running a professional football team through the teeth of a recession. This remains work in progress for me during the summer months.'

The board came in for a great deal of criticism during the season for sacking Steve Eyre with no replacement lined up. The morale, lost during the disastrous reign of caretaker Chris Beech, was never found again and saw Rochdale unable to get out of the relegation places.

This could well be a reaction to that, or it could be the board copying Liverpool and how they`ve dealt with a below par season.

Or it could just be that both had had enough.
