'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hill Comments On Recent Activity

Keith Hill has talked about Rhys Bennett, Jason Kennedy and his search for central defenders.

Bennett agreed a new deal a few days ago, and Hill was pleased to see him want to remain at the club.

'I'm glad that he's committed. He's a determined character and he wants to learn; that's what I like. If he listens to the advice and puts that into action then he'll be a very good player for us. The first step is to finish his rehabilitation, then we'll integrate him back into the training programme.'

Despite all the work Bennett has already done, Hill doesn't believe he'll be ready for the start of pre season, but he should be ready for the start of the season.

Hill admits that he lost out on a centre half target this week, which has left him disappointed, but unfortunately he had the option to play at a higher level which went against us.

Hill says he still won't panic though and he'll be patient in his search to strengthen the team.

As for Jason Kennedy, the only player yet to accept the contract on offer or inform the club he will be moving on, the manager adds.

'He'll make his own mind up but the window will probably close on that after the weekend. It's not catch 22, I can replace him. This is me being a football manager and not Jason's friend because there is a difference.'

Hill says that whatever happens with Kennedy he believes Rochdale will be successful irrespective of whether he plays for us or not.
