Rochdale have called on the support of fans everywhere to help the son of our assistant manager Chris Beech.
Fans may or may not be aware that Brandon unfortunately has Cystic Fibrosis, which leaves him in daily pain and discomfort.
Therefore, following the discovery of a new special bed, which will ease that pain and discomfort, Rochdale have pulled together to raise much needed funds for the family and all the players and management staff will be growing a beard during the month of November in an effort to help raise the money that the Beech family need to get this bed for their lad.
Brandon was diagnosed when he was only three years old, and sadly it's reported that two lives are lost every week to this disease. He's now 10 year of age and every day has been a battle to keep him as well as the family can, as well as making him comfortable, and that has involved physio twice a day to remove mucas buildups in his lungs, and he uses a nebuliser five times a day, and takes around 40 tablets.
That sounds horrific enough for anybody to deal with, let alone a ten year old.
He has also sadly developed liver disease recently, but the Beech family have been told about a special bed which vibrates and when used it helps improve the function of the lungs as it loosens the mucas on his lungs while he sleeps.
Obviously equipment like that doesn't come cheap, especially as they are made specifically to order, and this is where the club would like fans to get involved where they can.
Tomorrow (November 1st) will see those players and management staff with facial hair go clean shaven, and then the facial fluff will grow over the coming weeks to raise money and awareness of the cause.
Not only can fans sponsor individual players or members of the management team, but they can also register their own interest in being sponsored to grow a winter warming chin coat by dropping into the club shop and picking up a sponsorship form.
For full details of how to get involved please Click Here as obviously anything that fans can do to help this cause will be greatly appreciated.
The club have also announced that our home game against Exeter City on November 23rd will be a Brandon's Beard fundraising day and more details will be announced by the club closer to the time of the match.
