'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hill Expects Dale To Kick On

Manager Keith Hill has said that Rochdale need to kick on again now following the disappointment against Fleetwood Town in our last game.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of tonight's game against Southend, the gaffer couldn't resist one last pop at the decisions made in the last game, as he said.

'I still feel really angry because we shouldn't be sat here blaming referees for the outcome of games and we shouldn't be sat here debating what has been another wrong decision which has gone against us.'

Hill adds with a bit more calmness that his recent interviews, that referees are only human and they will inevitably get things wrong, but the frustration is that it's the club, the manager and the player who take the ramifications of those actions - however he more than concedes that ultimately it still comes down to the players to ensure that a refereeing error isn't so costly in games.

'At 1-1 we should never lost that game. It wasn't brilliant, I understand that, but we can't always be at our best and when we're not at our best, we shouldn't turning into losers. What I mean by that is a draw.'

Hill goes onto say that he knows there's no point in him or the players sulking and they haven't been doing that in training, they have been working on things to make sure that we get back to our best in games so that we can put this match behind us and move on again in what has been a good season for us so far.

We take and learn what we can from the defeat, and then we move on and that's exactly what he's expecting the players to do in the game this evening.

'We have an opportunity and we've got to make the most of that.'

We Rochdale sitting level with Southend, or should that be Southend sitting level with Rochdale as only goal difference is the determining factor, for the gaffer this is the perfect game for us to get back to winning ways after failing to do that in our last three matches. It'll kick us nicely up the table again but also push a challenger down and get them a bit more stuck in the battle below.

It's certainly not all doom and gloom for the gaffer though, because his own aspiration was a return of 40 points by game 23 and we are on track to reach that as long as we get back to what we've been doing well.
