'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hill Hails Hogan

Manager Keith Hill has hailed hattrick hero Scott Hogan following his performance in the game against Wimbledon.

It hasn't been great for Hogan recently as prior to the closure of the January transfer window speculation was rife about his future, and Hill had previously admitted it had affected the 21 year olds focus and he was left out of the starting line up because of it.

Now with the window shut, Hill told the press following the victory that he backed Hogan to help lead our promotion charge again now.

'I've never rested Scott, for the last three weeks he's been all over the place. It's a shame. I saw him smile for the first time last Saturday when he knew the window had closed. He never wanted to go anywhere, but he's had people pulling him from pillar to post trying to orchestrate a move away from this club.'

Hill adds that all Hogan wanted to do was play for Rochdale, be free of any pressure and enjoy scoring goals and without outside influences trying affecting his focus, he put in a fantastic shift during training the last week and more than got his reward for it yesterday by scoring three goals.

The gaffer goes on to call on people to leave him alone and let him just work with the squad, because if Hogan can maintain this form again now he will 'propel us to somewhere near the success that we need this season.'

Adding that we have a very good squad, and the aim has to be the play offs to give ourselves a chance of promotion and if we reach that we'll have achieved our aim for this campaign.

The hattrick also put Hogan on 15 goals for the season, and the next aim will definitely be 20.
