Craig Lynch Joins Rochdale
Ahead of the game against Burton Albion last night, Rochdale announced the signing of striker Craig Lynch.
The deal is subject to confirmation from the Football League and the FA, but the 21 year old has joined us initially on non contract terms.
The youngster came through the youth ranks at Sunderland and became a regular in their U21 side, earning himself a call up to their first team in the final weeks of the 2010-11 campaign, where he made two appearances from the substitute bench in their final games of the season.
He has also gained league experience with Hartlepool United on a loan spell back in 2012 where he appeared six times.
Speaking to the Official Site assistant manager Chris Beech said that he believes he has a good pedigree given his progress at Sunderland and he has been brought in so that everyone can have a good look at him, although he has already turned out for our reserve team and impressed.
'Craig has an understanding, as we do, that he has got to get up to Rochdale tempo and that is going to take him three to four weeks. So from a supporters' point of view I'd just ask for a little bit of patience because they might not get to know him quite so soon.'
Clearly the move is more with an eye to next season, so we'll have to see how it goes.
