Hill Proud To Secure Promotion

Hill Proud To Secure Promotion

Our two nil win over Cheltenham Town yesterday secured automatic promotion for Rochdale this season.

A good performance and goals from Vincenti and Henderson secured us automatic promotion as it's now impossible for Fleetwood Town to catch us as we sit five points ahead of them, and are tied in first place with Chesterfield so the League Two title will come down to the final days round of fixtures.

Speaking to the press after securing his second promotion with the club, manager Keith Hill clearly couldn't have been more pleased.

'There is a great sense inside of emotional achievement. These players are special to me and this club is special to me and to be the first manager in the club's history to get promoted twice gives me a sense of pride on achieving it for the supporters.'

Hill goes on to say that he did feel he sensed a good belief amongst the squad during our pre season trip to Tenerife and he was confident that his plan for the season would be successful, but he probably didn't quite expect it to be as successful as this, but he can't fault the players for their efforts all season long.

'Arguably the two games we lost recently could have derailed us mentally and I am so pleased that we have given back our place in League One to the supporters.'

Newport County next weekend to see the season out in style and a win there gives us every chance of taking the title with Chesterfield set to face Fleetwood Town.
