Rochdale 2-1 Wigan

Rochdale put the disappointment of the Halifax game behind us, as we put Championship Wigan Athletic to the sword in a two one victory.

Manager Keith Hill and the lads continued their pre season preparations with a good win earlier today, thanks to goals from Ian Henderson and Bastien Hery.

Dale did take a two goal lead in the game before James Tavernier got one back for them.

It was a strong starting eleven with Hill rightly taking this game and the challenge they would pose seriously and he'd have been pleased with what the lads produced.

Henderson opened the scoring after only five minutes as Rochdale started very brightly indeed and Josh Lillis had to be on his toes to keep them at bay as they certainly had a couple of chances to have drawn level, but overall we were pretty comfortable defensively, and our play was much more like the performances we put in last season.

On the 36 minute Hery doubled our advantage , but Wigan did pull one back just before the half time break.

This was how the scoring stayed in the second period, with chances again falling to both sides but neither capitalising on them.

Rochdale:

Lillis, Rafferty, Bennett, Lancashire, Lund (Bunney 70), Hery (Park 62), Done, Tanser, Donnelly (Cannon 70), Allen, Henderson (Camps 70).

Subs:

Barry-Murphy, McGinty, Eastham, Vincenti, Musangu, Collis, Rose, Logan .

Wigan:

Nicholls (Carson 46), Tavernier (Poole 70), Barnett, Rogne, Ramis (Caldwell 59), Taylor-Sinclair, Chow (Wilson 76), Fyvie, Trialist (Garcia 62), Jennings (Hamilton 86), Holt.

Subs:

Johnson, Burke.
